frequently-asked questions about starting a Travelogue Series

What is a Travelogue?

Travelogues are live entertainment. Professional filmmakers present a film they personally wrote, produced and directed in your auditorium, about the travel destination you select.

Why should we sponsor a Travelogue Series?

Travelogues are great fundraisers. They provide a social night out for residents in your community. People have the opportunity to travel anywhere around the world without leaving their seat. Sponsoring a Travelogue Series can raise thousands of dollars for your charity or other community projects.

Who comes to the Travelogues?

People who are curious about other cultures, people who frequently travel, and/or people who want to visit or re-visit the featured country, region or travel topic without actually having to travel there in person. While the core audience comes from seniors, it can also be popular with traditional and home-schooled students, families, religious groups and cultural populations. Depending on the featured program, local ethnic communities often wish to become involved in special ways.

How much work is involved?

You need to have someone in charge of making auditorium arrangements; someone to organize ticket sales; someone to establish underwriting. Full club support results in larger audiences!

How much does it cost?

The cost of your Travelogue Series depends on how many shows you book. Organizations book anywhere from 3 to 24 shows in a series. The average number of shows a group books is 6. At your request, Windoes will send you a price sheet.

What do we have to do?

Find an adequate auditorium (many groups use a high school auditorium), call the Windoes office for a proposal, promote the series and sell tickets. HAVE FUN!

What does Windoes do to help?

Windoes provides you with a Marketing package that has detailed step-by-step instructions on how to organize a successful Travelogue Series. We provide you with posters and a full media kit to promote your series (all free of charge). The Windoes staff is also available Monday through Friday to answer any questions and give guidance on your Series.

What is the season for Travelogues?

The Travelogue season runs from October through April. Most groups schedule one Travelogue in October, November, January, February, March and April. (The majority of Florida sponsors book 6 dates running every other week in January, February and March.)

How much pre-planning is necessary?

Windoes recommends that you take at least two months to promote your ticket sales and make the community aware of the upcoming Travelogue events.
